In the Egyptian town of Al Haram the livelihood has been weakened since the beginning of the Arab Spring. More than five million tourists stayed away from Egypt in 2011 in comparison to 2010, and this has affected the people who live from one of the world’s eldest tourist attractions.
Travellers have come to Al Haram for thousands of years to experience the pyramids and the sphinx, but since the riots began the tourists have disappeared. Some locals are selling their horses, while others pray for the tourists to return. One year after the Arab Spring began in Egypt the people are still waiting for that miracle of the Revolution.
