The Farm in the Centre
The demand for more rewarding production methods in agriculture has made a lot of farms shut down because they cannot adapt to the development. These farms are neither profitable to tear down nor to restore and this has created a landscape of decay in many rural communities.
In the Danish village, Kare the inhabitants are constantly reminded about this fact. Right in the centre of village lies their former pride, an old farm called Karbygaard, which is completely destroyed by decay. In 2006, a group of people from the village started the association 'The Preservation of Karbygaard', but after six years of struggling to create life on the farm the project is set on hold. Some of the inhabitants of Kare have given up hoping that Karbygaard will be restored. Others are waiting for new initiatives and ideas to be realised.
